From November 26th to 28th, CHS South students captivated audiences with three dazzling performances of Beauty and the Beast. Over 70 students from Years 7 to 10 came together after four months of dedicated rehearsals to deliver an unforgettable show filled with energy, talent, and professionalism. The cast and crew worked tirelessly to create an experience that left the audience amazed and eager for more.
The production wasn’t just about delivering an outstanding performance—it was also an opportunity for students to forge new friendships and deepen their love for theatre. The cast brought the magical story to life, earning standing ovations and glowing feedback from the audience. One standout moment was Belle’s breathtaking portrayal, with an audience member famously asking, “Is that her real voice or a recording?”
The show’s message of compassion and seeing beyond appearances resonated deeply, especially with younger attendees. A memorable comment from one child was, “The Beast is good! You should never judge someone on how they look.”
The production’s highlights included showstopping company numbers such as Be Our Guest, Gaston, and Belle. Each scene was brought to life with vibrant choreography and exceptional performances from the entire cast. Behind the scenes, the hardworking 10-person stage crew ensured every technical detail, from lighting to sound, ran seamlessly, adding to the magic of the production.
The event was a true community celebration, bringing together students, staff, families, and local residents. Many children came dressed as their favourite characters, with some even requesting photos with the talented cast. The enthusiasm and excitement in the audience added to the electric atmosphere each night.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who supported the production, from those who attended the performances to the staff and volunteers who made the event possible. The hard work and dedication of CHS South’s students left a lasting impression, showcasing not only their incredible talent but also the power of creativity and teamwork.
