PSHE and Life Skills Curriculum

EPR (Ethics, Philosophy and Religion), PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic), and RESPECT Curriculum

At CHS South, our EPR and PSHE curriculum is designed to challenge students to become creative, happy, and successful individuals. We deliver this through our unique RESPECT curriculum, which stands for RE(lationships), Employability, Social, Personal and Health Education, and Critical Thinking. This program embodies many strands of our SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural) offering, with the new RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) framework embedded throughout the years.

Our goal is to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to face current and topical issues, enabling them to respond with resilience to future changes and challenges in their personal lives and the wider world. In Years 7 and 8, students engage with PSHE through Oracy lessons in English and EPR lessons. In Years 9 and 10, they receive a dedicated weekly RESPECT lesson. By Year 11, Life Skills are taught weekly to ensure students are well-prepared for adulthood.

The curriculum is meticulously mapped across the years, identifying links to whole school initiatives and ensuring a cohesive learning journey. This approach not only addresses the immediate needs of our students but also prepares them for a successful and fulfilling future.
