Relationships and Sex Education

What is Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)?

RSE focuses on the emotional, social, and cultural development of pupils. It involves learning about relationships, sexual health, sexuality, healthy lifestyles, diversity, and personal identity. RSE is not about the promotion of sexual activity.

The government has recently mandated that all schools in England and Wales must teach Relationships and Sex Education as a fundamental part of their curriculum. This ensures that students have a legal entitlement to comprehensive RSE education.

At CHS South, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing and personal development of our students through a comprehensive RSE education program. Our RSE curriculum is an integral part of our broader educational mission to prepare students for a successful and fulfilling future. RSE provides young people with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, and practical skills to live safe, healthy, and productive lives, reaching their full potential.

RSE at CHS South

We believe that promoting the health and wellbeing of our pupils is a crucial aspect of their overall education. It is essential for young people to learn about personal safety and relationships in an age-appropriate manner.

RSE at CHS South offers students the opportunity to:
•    Learn about themselves and others.
•    Understand how to be safe and healthy, now and in the future.
•    Manage their academic, personal, and social lives positively.
•    Learn about wellbeing and mental health.
•    Develop resilience.
•    Become equipped with the knowledge and capability to take care of themselves and know where to receive support if problems arise.
•    Our RSE curriculum aligns with our commitment to nurturing creative, happy, and successful individuals, ensuring that all students at CHS South are well-prepared for the challenges of the future.
