Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to thank you for your continued support over the past year; as always your contribution to our growing community is valued by our student & staff body.

As we end the year with so much to celebrate, it seems strange to look back to September when we were still living in the shadow of the pandemic. Together we continue to restore and renew our community to recover from the impact, but it does feel like we have travelled a long way together over the course of the past three Terms.  From moving into our brand new school building at the start of the year, to ending the year receiving recognition for our work to support literacy, wellbeing, & community, this year our school has exemplified our ethos of being creative, happy and successful in so many ways; so much so that our Summer ‘Spotlight on South’ is a bumper edition!  Follow the link here to read all about our fantastic achievements: https://www.chssouth.org.uk/parents/communication-with-home/parent-email-newsletters

In particular, I am especially proud that we were recently awarded the Manchester Evening News School Award for ‘School in the Community’.  When CHS South was just a seed of an idea, one of the driving principles was that we wanted to provide opportunity and support for the Manchester community.  From opening in September 2018, through to the present day, time and time again our students, staff, families and community members have joined together through CHS South to provide for each other and it is wonderful to see this special quality recognised.  With this in mind, I know that some families may face challenges over the summer break; please find attached to our recent email a flyer signposting services if you find yourself in need of support with the cost of living.  Similarly, if you are looking for free activities for our young people to participate in over summer, you can find a variety of options on www.loadstodo.co.uk.

I look forward to welcoming you all back in September as we complete our school community with a full cohort of students, and our founding students begin their final year with us.  Our office is contactable for urgent enquiries on [email protected] over the summer break, and staff return to school from Thursday 1st September.  Students return to school on Monday 5th September as follows:

Year 7:  Arrive ready to line up for 8:30am
Year 8:  Arrive ready to line up for 9:30am
Year 9:  Arrive ready to line up for 10:00am
Year 10:  Arrive ready to line up for 9:30am
Year 11:  Arrive ready to line up for 10:00am

For now, I wish you a safe and restful holiday.

Yours faithfully,
Mr. D Prophet
