7 May 2020
I hope I find you and your family well; below is a brief update regarding our provision at CHS South.
Thank you for your continued efforts with distance learning over the past week. As you know we are transitioning our provision for all subjects across to Microsoft Teams; this will be complete from Monday 11th May, when work for all subjects will be available from this platform. We have been monitoring student activity in Teams and are delighted to see so many students keeping up to date with their learning whilst away from school. Where we have seen no activity and we are unaware of IT issues, a member of the South Team will be in touch to see if your child needs some further support accessing the work on Teams.
Free School Meals
As those families in receipt of a free school meal should be aware, we are moving to the Government’s national voucher scheme from Monday 11th May. If your child qualifies for free school meals you should receive an email with details of how to log on to the portal and access your vouchers each week.
Celebrating our Champions!
At the end of each half term at CHS South we always hold a celebratory assembly to acknowledge the efforts of our students; just because we are away from school, this will be no different! If you feel your child’s efforts with their distance learning – be they creative, happy or successful – deserve recognition please email us at [email protected] with details and photographic evidence if possible.
Ongoing Educational Provision
As you may be aware we are expecting an announcement on Sunday from the Prime Minister outlining his proposals regarding how we transition out of lockdown. We expect these plans to include details regarding the reopening of schools; as yet we are unaware of the timeframe and age range for returning students, but we will update you next week with our response to the announcement.
Finally, I hope you take the opportunity to enjoy the Bank Holiday tomorrow and enjoy the weekend ahead. I’d like to leave you and our students with a message from the CHS South family, which can be found by following the link here:https://vimeo.com/415528965 or by going to the ‘Happy’ page of the CHS South website here: https://www.chssouth.org.uk/chs-distance-learning/happy.
