Consultation on admission arrangements Prospere Learning Trust Schools
The Prospere Learning Trust are undertaking a consultation on the admissions policy for CHS South.
In accordance with the Department for Education’s (DfE’s) 2021 statutory ‘School Admissions Code’ guidance, we must consult on our admission arrangements when changes are proposed, and at least once every seven years.
Changes are proposed to the school’s oversubscription criteria.
The Prospere Learning Trust is fully committed to comprehensive education and works in close partnership with Manchester Local Authority (LA) adhering to the LA Coordinated Admissions Scheme. The Trust wish to continue to follow the locally agreed admissions criteria with the addition of a category giving priority to children of staff members. The Trust would also like to standardise the oversubscription criteria and admissions policies of our schools to ensure consistency of approach across the Trust with due regard to the new School Admissions Code 2021.
Proposed Oversubscription Criteria from September 2023:
When the school is oversubscribed, after the admission of pupils with an Education, Health and Care plan or a Statement of Special Educational Needs naming the school, priority for admission will be given to those children who meet the criteria set out below, in priority order:
- Looked after children and children who were previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to adoption, a child arrangements order, or special guardianship order.
- Priority will next be given to children based on their exceptional medical or social needs or those of their parents. Each application must include evidence, from a medical specialist or social worker of the child’s/parent’s need and why they must attend this school rather than any other, based on those needs. If evidence is not submitted to the LA with the application, a child’s, or parent’s medical or social needs cannot be considered.
- Priority will next be given to the siblings of pupils attending the school at the time the application is received, where an older sibling is in Year 11 siblings will not be prioritised under this criterion.
- Priority will next be given to children of staff employed at CHS South.
- Other children.
